This CPE factsheet summarises findings from a Dutch population-based cohort study examining long-term survival among nearly 72,000 adolescents and young adults (aged 18–39) diagnosed with solid cancers between 1998 and 2021. The study demonstrates that excess mortality normalises well before the current 10-year insurance disclosure period required in several EU countries, providing evidence for revising “right to be forgotten” legislation. CPE uses these findings to advocate for fairer financial and insurance policies for young cancer survivors across Europe.
