Position Paper on Pancreatic Cancer Across Europe in Light of the 2024 EU Elections
This Position Paper, jointly produced by Pancreatic Cancer Europe (PCE), Cancer Patients Europe, Digestive Cancer Europe, the European Pancreatic Club, and United European Gastroenterology, addresses the rising incidence and mortality of pancreatic cancer — currently the third leading cause of cancer death in Europe. Presented ahead of the 2024 EU elections, the document identifies critical gaps including lack of awareness, late diagnosis, absence of effective screening programs, insufficient research funding, and inequalities in treatment access across Member States. It sets out seven concrete action points for the incoming European Parliament mandate covering early detection, screening programs, research funding, data registries, centres of excellence, and clinical trial access.
