Patient Leadership to Tackle Cancer in Europe – Cancer Patients Europe’s Launch Event
This Event Report documents Cancer Patients Europe’s official launch event held on 4 July 2023 in Brussels, introducing CPE to EU policymakers and stakeholders. The half-day conference featured three panel discussions moderated by Friends of Europe covering implementation of Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan, the new EU HTA Regulation as an opportunity for patient involvement, and maintaining cancer as an EU policy priority beyond 2024. Speakers included MEPs Nicolás González Casares and Tomislav Sokol, OECD Deputy Director Mark Pearson, representatives from ESMO, ECO, EFPIA Oncology Platform, and CPE leadership. Key themes addressed health inequalities, the Right to Be Forgotten, patient empowerment in HTA processes, and advocacy strategies for the upcoming 2024 EU elections.
