PERIFORMANCE Partners Met in Vienna to Advance the Project’s Work

On 9–10 September 2026, CPE joined partners of the PERIFORMANCE project in Vienna for the in-person project’s Annual Consortium Meeting.

PERIFORMANCE is a Horizon Europe project aiming to make cancer research more ethical, inclusive and impactful by strengthening stakeholder engagement and exploring how technological developments, including Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the European Health Data Space (EHDS), can be applied in an ethical, equitable and transparent way.

The two-day meeting brought consortium partners together to review progress, exchange on the work carried out so far and discuss the next steps for the project. Partners also had the opportunity to strengthen collaboration and coordinate activities for the coming months.

As part of the PERIFORMANCE consortium, CPE has supported the project’s engagement and communication activities, including by promoting project calls and events through its networks and encouraging participation from cancer patient communities. CPE also contributes a patient-centred perspective to workshops and communication outputs, helping ensure that relevant materials and training activities are accessible and meaningful for patients, survivors and carers.

The meeting also marked an important milestone for PERIFORMANCE, as it was the first consortium meeting following the completion of the project’s open call and the selection of the successful proposals. Out of 58 applications, 15 projects and initiatives from all over Europe were selected for funding. The selected projects will soon be published, providing an opportunity to further support and showcase innovative approaches to stakeholder engagement in cancer research.

For CPE, the project represents an important step towards patient empowerment by creating multiple opportunities for patients and other stakeholders to engage in cancer research and innovation. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with the PERIFORMANCE consortium and contributing to meaningful and inclusive stakeholder engagement throughout the project.
