Why it matters
Mature T-cell leukemias and lymphomas (MaTCL) are rare blood cancers with limited treatment options and poor survival rates, as current therapies that target only the cancer cells have not been effective. The ImmuneT-ME project addresses this challenge by exploring the immune environment surrounding the malignant T-cells, which plays a key role in disease progression and could open doors to new treatment strategies. The project has three main objectives: first, to map the immune environment across different MaTCL types and identify predictive biomarkers. second, to test these biomarkers as targets for personalised therapies in lab and animal models and third, to implement these findings for patient benefit by establishing decision-support systems for clinicians. ImmuneT-ME project aims to pave the way for new, immune-based treatment approaches and future clinical trials that could improve outcomes for MaTCL patients.
CPE’s role in the project
CPE is responsible for raising professional and patient awareness about MaTCL by supporting the development of educational tools such as expert-led preceptorships for healthcare professionals, dedicated patient webinars, and a Europe-wide list of MaTCL specialists. CPE will also contribute to creating a MaTCL fact sheet for wider distribution. In parallel, CPE will support the establishment of a European MaTCL patient, survivor, and caregiver group, helping to ensure strong patient representation and advocacy. Finally, CPE will co-lead the dissemination of all project findings and resources by contributing to the communication strategy, creating a dedicated project webpage, and sharing regular updates through its own and partners’ communication channels.
