On 25 June 2024, Pancreatic Cancer Europe (PCE) organized the “Getting Our Act Together” Multistakeholder Meeting on Access to Therapy for Pancreatic Cancer in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. The meeting was supported by the European Pancreatic Club (EPC) and in partnership with the Anticancer Fund. Experts from oncology, surgery, gastroenterology, pharmacology, patient advocacy, and policy-making were present at this meeting.
At the meeting, our Chair of the Board, Francisco Lozano, presented the joint position paper titled “Pancreatic Cancer Across Europe in Light of the 2024 EU Elections.” This significant document, launched in late May 2024, was developed by a coalition including Cancer Patients Europe (CPE), Pancreatic Cancer Europe (PCE), European Pancreatic Cancer (EPC), European Digestive Cancer (DICE), and United European Gastroenterology (UEG). The paper outlines key recommendations and strategies to tackle disparities in pancreatic cancer care across Europe.

The primary goal of this event was to foster collaboration among stakeholders to promote research, improve access to care, and develop actionable initiatives for the pancreatic cancer community. In addition, the meeting facilitated in-depth discussions among experts from oncology, surgery, gastroenterology, pharmacology, patient advocacy, and policymaking.
Moving forward, the joint position paper and the discussions from this meeting will serve as a foundation for advocacy and policy development, driving meaningful improvements in pancreatic cancer care.
