DynamiCity

    Why it matters

DynamiCity aims to make cities healthier, cleaner and more people-friendly by encouraging more walking, cycling and other forms of active mobility. The project is based on growing evidence that even small amounts of daily physical activity, such as walking or cycling for 10 minutes a day, can significantly improve physical and mental health, help prevent diseases including cancer, and improve quality of life for cancer survivors. At the same time, replacing short car trips with active travel can reduce air pollution, traffic congestion and greenhouse gas emissions, helping cities move towards climate neutrality. Through work in 12 European cities, DynamiCity will test practical solutions such as safer walking and cycling infrastructure, smart mobility systems, awareness campaigns and policy changes that make active travel easier and more accessible for different communities. The project brings together health, transport and urban planning sectors to show that mobility systems can do more than move people from one place to another: they can actively contribute to healthier lifestyles, cancer prevention and more sustainable cities.

    CPE’s role in the project

CPE acts as an Associated Partner within DynamiCity, ensuring that the perspectives of cancer patients are meaningfully integrated throughout the project. CPE contributes to the project’s Expert Group by providing expertise on patient engagement, health equity, and the needs of people living with and beyond cancer in relation to active and sustainable mobility. Through its extensive European network of cancer patient organisations, CPE supports the dissemination and uptake of project results, facilitates dialogue with patient communities, and promotes collaboration with relevant health and patient-focused initiatives to maximise the project’s societal impact.
