From 24–26 September 2026, CPE joined the World Cancer Congress 2026 in Hong Kong, organised by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) and hosted by the Hong Kong Anti-Cancer Society. The Congress brought together cancer control experts, researchers, healthcare professionals, policymakers and patient advocates from more than 130 countries to exchange knowledge and explore solutions to global cancer challenges.
CPE CEO Antonella Cardone participated in the programme as a speaker, bringing the patient perspective to discussions on the future of cancer control and the importance of meaningful patient involvement in cancer research, policy and care.
Throughout the Congress, our CEO contributed to several sessions addressing key challenges and opportunities in cancer care, including:
- Flexible care pathways in cancer care, exploring how more adaptable approaches can help health systems respond to growing pressures while better meeting patients’ needs.
- Smoking cessation across the cancer care continuum, discussing the importance of integrating cessation support into cancer prevention and care.
- Mission Early, on early cancer care, examining progress in advancing earlier detection and intervention worldwide.
- Antimicrobial resistance and sepsis in oncology, highlighting the importance of addressing these challenges through EU health policy.
- Care givers realities and psychological support, chairing the Rapid-Fire session with highlights from the globe on the evidence of carers support on survival rates among other relevant support provided by them.
The Congress provided a valuable opportunity to exchange experiences, share perspectives and strengthen collaboration across the global cancer community. For CPE, participation also highlighted the importance of ensuring that the voices and experiences of people affected by cancer are meaningfully reflected in cancer policy, research and care.
CPE thanks the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) and the Hong Kong Anti-Cancer Society for bringing the global cancer community together at World Cancer Congress 2026.
