CPE at the iNTERVENE Project Meeting: Advancing Health Literacy and Equity in Cancer Care

On 8–9 October 2025, CPE took part in the iNTERVENE Kick-off meeting in Limassol, Cyprus. The two-day event gathered partners from across Europe to get started, align on next steps, and strengthen collaboration toward a shared mission: improving health literacy and reducing inequalities in cancer prevention and care.

The iNTERVENE project aims to strengthen cancer prevention and care by improving health literacy among citizens, patients, carers, and healthcare professionals. Using the Health Literacy Pathway Model, it is developing a Health Literacy Hub: an interactive platform offering educational tools, gamified training, and a digital library.

    CPE’s role and contribution

CPE plays a central role in iNTERVENE, ensuring the patient perspective remains at the heart of every activity. The organisation contributes to evidence gathering on health literacy, supports the piloting and evaluation of the Health Literacy Hub and training modules, and support policy outreach to translate project outcomes into sustainable European action.

By engaging policymakers and healthcare stakeholders, CPE works to embed patient voices in the design, implementation, and evaluation of health literacy initiatives, — ensuring that cancer prevention and care strategies are equitable, understandable, and actionable for all.

At the Cyprus meeting, partners discussed upcoming pilot activities, content development for the Health Literacy Hub, and strategies to promote long-term adoption of iNTERVENE’s outputs. CPE reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that every citizen, regardless of background or education, has access to the information and support needed to make informed decisions about their health.

At CPE, we believe that empowering patients starts with accessible, inclusive, and evidence-based communication. Through iNTERVENE, we continue to advance our mission to reduce inequalities and strengthen the role of patients in Europe’s cancer landscape.
