On 15-19 May 2026 CPE joined the Annual ESTRO Congress – “Innovating Radiation Oncology, Together” in Stockholm, Sweden.
ESTRO is the Europe’s leading radiation oncology event, showcasing and learn from top practice-changing clinical trials and breaking-through research in all fields of Radiation Oncology.
CPE was proud to bring the patient perspective to these critical conversations. CPE CEO Antonella Cardone, CPE Senior Policy Officer Josephine Mosset, CPE Vice-Chair of the Board Jacqueline Daly, and CPE Secretary of the Board Merel Hennink, joined the congress to ensure the patient voice wasn’t just present — but heard.
Our CEO participated in two key sessions: “More than the beam: Myths and realities of radiotherapy — a multistakeholder perspective”, highlighting that radiotherapy is one of the most effective cancer treatments available, yet it remains shrouded in myth; and the “Presidential Symposium: Innovating Radiation Oncology, Together”, arguing that too often patients get lost in organisational silos — disciplines, professions, institutions — while innovation races ahead without them.
CPE Senior Policy Officer Josephine Mosset contributed to the panel discussion “Shared decision-making in brachytherapy: Empowering patients and enhancing clinical outcomes,” alongside CPE Vice-Chair of the Board Jacqueline Daly, sharing the CPE brachytherapy patients survey 2025 and the patient perspective navigating brachytherapy. Josephine Mosset also participated in the panel discussion on “Innovations in radiotherapy: How to bring in the patient’s voice?” underlining that without equitable access to radiotherapy care, there can be no meaningful innovation.
CPE Secretary of the Board Merel Hennink participated in the panel discussion “Amplifying radiotherapy voices: Media and more…” discussed the challenges in public and patient perceptions of radiotherapy.
CPE believes that patient-centred innovation is key to improving radiotherapy care and outcomes.
