CPE and the Medical Nutrition International Industry (MNI) have joined forces on an initiative aimed at addressing the significant yet often overlooked nutritional challenges faced by cancer patients and survivors across Europe. Proper nutritional care is essential for improving treatment outcomes, enhancing quality of life, and supporting long-term recovery. Yet, malnutrition remains a common and serious issue among those diagnosed with cancer, impacting their overall prognosis and well-being. This collaborative effort seeks to bring attention to this critical need and develop strategies that can make a meaningful difference in patient care.
Central to this initiative is a comprehensive survey designed to gather crucial insights and first-hand data on how cancer care and diagnosis affect patients’ nutritional status. The survey will assess patients’ awareness of the risks associated with disease-related malnutrition at both European and national levels.
The findings will be instrumental in shaping actionable recommendations for policymakers and creating practical guidelines for healthcare providers. These insights will help design strategies that improve nutritional care and better support cancer patients, ensuring they receive holistic cancer care.
As part of our commitment to advancing this initiative, we plan to develop a white paper based on the survey results. This document will outline key recommendations and present a strong call to action for policymakers and decision-makers.
By advocating for integrated nutritional care as a fundamental component of cancer treatment, we aim to address the unmet nutritional needs of patients across Europe.
